Americans are far more obese than in previous generations

Okay, so most of us love food. That’s how we ended up this way. In stressed lifestyles with too much fast food, indulging in sweets, salty snacks, and sodas is what we tend to grab when we get hungry. Food can be used as a comfort or reward, adding additional emotional pleasure. This love affair with food has landed us in a chubby kind of a place. As a rule, Americans are far more obese than our previous generations. How can we turn the tide before our children pay the price in health for a lifestyle that brings on heart disease, diabetes, joint disintegration, and more? Billions are invested in quick weight loss schemes each year as women try to lose the weight easily.

If you don’t have it available, you probably won’t eat it

Quick weight loss starts with limiting the amount of food, especially fattening, sugary, and salty foods, that you put in your mouth. There are some tricks to help with this endeavor. Practical items, like replacing your normal dinner plates with smaller alternatives can help you eat less. Only stocking healthy options at home is also helpful. If you don’t have it available, you probably won’t eat it. Forewarned is forearmed. Figure out ahead of time some lower calorie and low fat dishes at the restaurants or fast food places you frequent.

Planning meals ahead is also a very effective route to quick weight loss. Preparing foods at one time for the week into serving sizes and freezing if necessary will make choosing a healthy option easier. Go ahead and wash and chop vegetables, putting them into snack baggies or containers. Wash and prepare fruit for a sweet snack. This also eliminates opportunities for tasting throughout the week. If meals are prepared and frozen all at once, there is less work during the week and less calories building up through a spoonful of this and a sip of that.

Sodas lead you right to other damaging snacks

Another item that people tend to know but forget to do is to drastically increase water intake. The amount of water (in ounces) that we should drink each day is equal to half our weight (in pounds). If you are not fond of the taste of water, try making a pitcher of filtered water with lemon, lime, thin slices of cucumber, or strawberries to give a refreshing fruity hint to your required ounces without upping the calories. Sugar and salt beget more sugar and salt. This means that as you eat these two items, your body begins to crave them more. Sodas containing both of these lead you right to other damaging snacks.
